Every VR game and every outdoor game at Questrooms in Stockholm can be played from a wheelchair, because VR works seated for the whole game. The classic rooms are not recommended for wheelchairs. Every room suits pregnant players, and autistic players are welcome. One customer asked in the chat how far she would have to walk, being pregnant with pelvic girdle pain. This guide answers that, game by game, for a wheelchair accessible escape room, pregnancy and autism.
Can you play an escape room in a wheelchair?
Yes, in VR and outdoors. All VR escape rooms, outdoor games and Quest to Go events at Questrooms are fully accessible, and in VR you can sit through the whole game. The classic rooms are not recommended for wheelchairs. The venue has stairs, so tell Questrooms in advance, and the staff will organise a way to bring the wheelchair down.
To give notice, email hello@questrooms.se or call 08-543 544 02 before your visit. The VR escape rooms take 2 to 6 players per game, and a group of up to 10 can play the same VR game with BACK-TO-BACK.
For companies, Quest to Go brings an AR game on iPads to your office, conference hall or a park, for 19 to over 200 people. The team plays at your venue, so the stairs at Kocksgatan 21A are not a factor.
Can you play VR with bad balance or bad knees?
Yes. In VR at Questrooms you can sit or stand during the whole game. You move your avatar with the controllers, by teleporting over short or long distances, so you do not walk around the room. That makes VR a good choice for people with bad balance, knee problems or back problems.
A few practical points for an accessible VR escape room:
- Seated play: you can stay seated for the full 60 minutes.
- Dizziness: in rare cases a player feels slight dizziness, which goes away when the headset comes off.
- Glasses: the headsets fit over most glasses. With very large frames you play without them, and the game master adjusts the lenses.
Can you play an escape room while pregnant?
Yes. Every room at Questrooms is suitable for pregnant players, VR included. The one exception is Horror Escape when you are heavily pregnant: Questrooms recommends skipping it because of the intense atmosphere, although many have played it without any issues. Listen to your body, and choose a calmer game if you are unsure.
For the customer who asked about walking: the outdoor games are a slow walk of a few kilometres in the Katarina-Sofia area of Södermalm, with breaks along the way, and a shorter 1-hour version is available on request. If walking is hard, a seated VR game takes you through the same 60 minutes without moving around. The outdoor escape rooms page lists both outdoor games.
Is an escape room autism friendly?
Players with autism or other special needs are welcome at Questrooms. Time Travellers and Jungle Quest VR are good calm choices, and Questrooms recommends playing together with an adult. Both games have difficulty 2 of 5 and no scary elements, so the focus stays on solving puzzles together.
Time Travellers is a classic room made for children aged 8 to 12, a family-friendly adventure through time for 3 to 7 players. Jungle Quest VR is a VR world of floating islands and magical creatures for ages 10 and up, and it works for adults too.
A few things can make the visit calmer:
- You can ask for hints at any time, as many as you need.
- If the 60 minutes run out, nothing bad happens. The game master goes through the game with you.
- If one player wants to leave during the game, the rule is that the whole game stops, but exceptions are sometimes made. Tell the game master.
Safety for every player
Each room has cameras so the game master can follow the game live. The games are not recorded. In an emergency, all locks open automatically, and nobody is tied up or chained at the start of any game. The venue has a toilet, hooks for jackets and lockers for bags and valuables.

FAQ
Is Questrooms wheelchair accessible?
Partly. All VR escape rooms, outdoor games and Quest to Go events at Questrooms are fully accessible, and VR can be played seated for the whole game. The classic rooms are not recommended for wheelchairs. The venue has stairs, so tell Questrooms in advance, and the staff will organise a way to bring the wheelchair down.
Can I play a VR escape room sitting down?
Yes. Every VR escape room at Questrooms can be played seated from start to finish. You move your avatar with the controllers by teleporting, so you never need to walk around the room. That makes VR suitable for people with bad balance, knee problems or back problems, and for pregnant players who prefer to sit.
Can one player leave the room during the game?
Tell the game master. By the rules, the whole game stops if one player leaves the room, but Questrooms sometimes makes exceptions. The game master follows every game live on camera, and in an emergency all locks open automatically. Hints are also available at any time, as many as the team needs.
