You do not need to prepare anything for your first escape room. You arrive 15 minutes early, the game master explains the rules, and then your group has 60 minutes to find clues, solve puzzles and get out. If you get stuck, you can ask for hints. This guide walks you through the whole visit step by step, from booking to payment, with examples from Questrooms on Södermalm in Stockholm.
What is an escape room?
An escape room is a room your group is "locked" into and gets out of by solving puzzles together before time runs out. Every room has its own theme, atmosphere and story. At Questrooms there are classic rooms with real locks and objects, and VR escape rooms where you wear a headset and move through a digital world.
Before your visit
Book ahead. The booking calendar shows 21 days ahead. There may be free rooms if you drop in, but sometimes everything is taken, so booking is the safe option.
Pick a game that fits the group. For beginners, a game with 3–6 people works well. If you want VR, Survival VR is a good first game: exciting but not scary. If you want a classic room, Russian Mafia is calm but a little tricky, and we recommend at least 3 players if you are new.
After booking, you get an SMS with a link where you can change the number of players up to 15 minutes before the game, or cancel.
What to wear. Comfortable clothes. You can take your shoes off in every room except Horror Escape, so bring clean indoor shoes or socks. Barefoot is not allowed.
How the visit works
- Arrive 15 minutes early. We are at Kocksgatan 21A, a few minutes from Medborgarplatsen.
- Briefing. The game master explains the rules and answers questions, without revealing anything about the solutions. The briefing is in English or Swedish.
- The story. You get the background to your mission and enter the room.
- The game, up to 60 minutes. You search for clues and solve puzzles together.
- Afterwards, 5–10 minutes. Payment and a short debrief.
Count on about 1.5 hours in total.
What if we get stuck?
Then you ask for a hint. It is up to you how many you take, and there is no shame in it. Hints let groups with different levels of experience move forward and let everyone contribute, including people who have never played before.
Is it safe?
Yes. Every room is monitored by cameras, and in an emergency all locks open automatically. You are never really locked in. In the VR games, the game master gives instructions before you start and then follows the game through cameras.
Do you need any special skills?
No. You do not need any special knowledge, just logic and teamwork. The puzzles are not language-dependent, and instructions are available in English and Swedish. VR needs no VR experience: the game master goes through the headset and controls, and the headsets fit over most glasses.
Price and booking
The price depends on how many you are, and the more players, the lower the price per person. You see the current price when you pick a slot for an escape room or a VR escape room.
