Halloween in Stockholm is informal. There is no citywide parade and no public holiday, so the evening is what you make of it: a costume party, a scary activity, a family outing or a dinner with friends. This guide covers what usually happens in the city around 31 October and ideas for adults, friends and families. You also get tips for bad weather and a simple plan for a full Halloween evening. Halloween in Stockholm 2026: dates to know

- Halloween: Saturday 31 October 2026.
- Allhelgonadagen (All Saints' Day): also Saturday 31 October 2026. In Sweden, All Saints' Day falls on the Saturday between 31 October and 6 November, and this year it lands on Halloween itself. All Saints' is a quiet day of remembrance, when many people light candles at graves. Keep that in mind if your plans pass a cemetery.
- Höstlov (autumn school break): most Stockholm schools are off in week 44, 26–30 October 2026. Dates can differ between municipalities and schools, so check your school's calendar.
- Booking at Questrooms: the booking calendar opens 21 days ahead, so Halloween weekend slots appear about three weeks before.
What happens in Stockholm on Halloween?
Halloween in Stockholm is driven by venues rather than the city. Bars and clubs run costume nights, amusement parks and museums often put on seasonal programmes during the autumn break, and escape rooms and VR venues see more bookings for their scary games. Children in some neighbourhoods go trick-or-treating ("bus eller godis"), but it is far less widespread than in the US or UK.
Because programmes change every year, check each venue's own website for this year's dates before you plan around a specific event.
Halloween for adults
For adults, Halloween is a good excuse to try something you would not do on a normal Saturday. The obvious choice is a genuine scare.
At Questrooms on Södermalm, Horror Escape is our most intense room. It is strictly 18+, for 3–6 players, and built like a horror film where your group plays the victims. A live actor takes part in a short interaction, with no physical contact. If someone in the group wants it milder, write "light version" in the comment when you book and the live acting is removed.
Adults who want tension without a full horror film can pick a darker VR game instead, like Sanctum VR or Chernobyl VR.
Halloween for friends
A group of friends needs an activity where everyone takes part, not just the loudest two. That is where an escape room works well: 60 minutes, one shared goal, and everyone has something to do.
Two ideas:
- A scary theme night: split into two rooms at the same time, for example Horror Escape and Sanctum VR, and compare stories afterwards. Our team often suggests this pairing.
- Team against team: groups of 7–10 can play BACK-TO-BACK in our two connected VR rooms. Play together in co-op (up to 8), or as two teams racing each other (up to 10, for example 5 vs 5).
Halloween for families and children
Halloween does not have to be frightening. For families, the fun is often in the dressing up and the outing, not in being scared.
At Questrooms, there are options for different ages:
- Ages 8–12: Time Travellers, a classic escape room with no scary content. Children under 13 play with an adult in the room.
- Ages 8+: Smash Point KIDS VR, a cartoon-style VR arena game, 10 rounds of 5–7 minutes.
- Ages 10+: Jungle Quest KIDS VR, a friendly puzzle adventure among floating islands.
- Ages 13–17: Horror Escape TEENS, the teen version of our horror room with more light and fewer sound effects. Requires parental consent.

Halloween parties and events
Many bars, clubs and venues hold Halloween parties on the weekend closest to 31 October. For 2026, that is the weekend of Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October. Tickets and programmes are published by each venue, often only a few weeks ahead.
If you are hosting your own party, an activity at the start gives the evening a shape. Questrooms hosts private events such as birthdays and nights out, and you can rent our lounge to hang out after the game.
Horror escape rooms
A horror escape room puts your group inside the story instead of in front of a screen. You solve puzzles against a 60-minute clock while light, sound and set design work on your nerves. It is still an escape room and not a haunted house: the fear is there to raise the stakes, not to stop you from thinking.
At Questrooms you can choose between Horror Escape (18+) and Horror Escape TEENS (13–17). Horror Escape keeps a 3-player minimum. Every room is monitored by cameras, and in an emergency all locks open automatically.
VR horror
VR horror surrounds you with the scene in 360 degrees. There is no screen edge and no familiar room around you, so the sound behind you really does feel like it is behind you.
At Questrooms, House of Fear 2 VR (15+, max 4 players) is the one our team calls the scariest VR room: an abandoned psychiatric clinic and a missing patient. Sanctum VR (12+) is darker and more mysterious than jump-scare scary. No VR experience is needed, and the headsets fit over most glasses.
What if the weather is bad?
Late October in Stockholm is usually dark by late afternoon, often cold, and often wet. Plan indoor activities first and treat anything outdoors as a bonus.
All our classic escape rooms and VR games are indoors, a few minutes from Medborgarplatsen. If you want to be outside anyway, our outdoor AR game Operation Mindfall (16+) runs through the streets of SoFo, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before start. If it rains, you can play with umbrellas and take coffee breaks along the way.
A Halloween evening: dinner, activity, drinks
A simple structure works for most groups:
- Dinner (early evening): eat first so nobody is hungry mid-game. Södermalm and SoFo have plenty of restaurants within walking distance of Kocksgatan.
- Activity (about 1.5 hours): arrive 15 minutes before your slot for the briefing. The game takes up to 60 minutes. Fridays and Saturdays have late start times.
- Drinks or socialising: go on to a bar nearby, or stay in our lounge if you booked it. The game gives everyone something to talk about.
For bigger groups, reverse it: play first while everyone has energy, then eat together.
