Horror escape room at age 16: the rules for teens 13 to 17

A 16-year-old can play Horror Escape at Questrooms if one person in the team is 18+. Rules for ages 13 to 17: consent, ID and price.

A 16-year-old can play a horror escape room at Questrooms if at least one person in the team is 18 or older. The 18+ on Horror Escape is a recommendation for the full experience, and the hard lower limit is 13. One customer asked us: "What happens if we booked an 18+ room and then realised one of us is 16?" The answer is that the game goes ahead, as long as one player is an adult. Below are all the rules for ages 13 to 17.

Can a 16-year-old play a horror escape room in Stockholm?

Yes. At Questrooms a player aged 13 to 17 can play Horror Escape when at least one person in the same team is 18 or older. The 18+ age is a recommendation, because the full game has a live actor and partial darkness. The group decides for itself. Nobody under 13 plays, with or without an adult.

What matters is the team, not the single player: one adult inside the room is enough, whether a parent, an older sibling or a friend who has turned 18. The adult plays and counts as one of the 3 to 6 players.

Already booked Horror Escape and someone is under 18? If one player is 18+, the booking stands. New games are booked in the booking calendar.

What are the rules for players aged 13 to 17?

Players aged 13 to 17 have two horror options at Questrooms. Horror Escape needs at least one person aged 18+ in the team. Horror Escape TEENS is made for ages 13 to 17, and a team of only teenagers can play it if a parent emails written consent. Players under 13 cannot play either version.

Who is in your team Horror Escape Horror Escape TEENS
At least one player aged 18+ Yes Yes, the adult must be 18+
Only players aged 13 to 17, with a parent's written consent Book TEENS instead Yes
Only players aged 13 to 17, no consent and no adult No No
Anyone under 13 No No

A team of only 13 to 17 year olds plays Horror Escape TEENS with a parent's written consent by email.

Horror Escape TEENS tells the same story as the adult game, with no live actor, more light and a lower sound level. Both versions need at least 3 players.

How does the parent's consent work?

A parent of one of the teenagers sends an email to hello@questrooms.se and confirms in writing that they take responsibility for the group. That email lets a team of players aged 13 to 17 play Horror Escape TEENS without an adult in the room. Send it well before the game, so the team can confirm the booking.

The email is enough. With the consent in place, no adult needs to come along or wait in the reception.

Do teenagers need ID, and how is age counted?

Teenagers do not need to show ID at Questrooms. Age counts by calendar year, so a player who turns 13 later this year counts as 13 and can play both horror versions under the rules above. The only time Questrooms asks for ID is for the birthday discount, which needs proof of the date of birth.

An adult who comes along but does not play can wait in the reception, and that adult does not pay. An adult who enters the room counts as a player and pays the normal price.

What does Horror Escape cost for teenagers?

Players aged 13 to 17 get 15% off the per-person price. The price depends on how many players are in the room, and it is the same for every game. Discounts do not stack, so each player gets the single best discount.

  • 3 players: 399 SEK per person
  • 4 players: 389 SEK per person
  • 5 players: 379 SEK per person
  • 6 players: 369 SEK per person

You pay on site after the game, by card or Swish. Full details on age limits for every game are on the FAQ page.

FAQ

Can a 15-year-old do a horror escape room?

Yes, if at least one person in the team is 18 or older. At Questrooms, players aged 13 to 17 can play Horror Escape with an adult in the team, or play Horror Escape TEENS, which is made for their age. A team of only teenagers plays TEENS with a parent's written consent by email to hello@questrooms.se.

What if we booked Horror Escape and one player is under 18?

The booking stands if at least one player in the team is 18 or older and nobody is under 13. You do not need to rebook or call. If nobody in the team is an adult, email hello@questrooms.se before the game, and ask about switching to Horror Escape TEENS with a parent's written consent.

Can a 12-year-old play Horror Escape TEENS?

Only if the child turns 13 during this calendar year. Questrooms counts age by calendar year, so a 12-year-old with a birthday later this year counts as 13. Younger children cannot play either horror version, even with a parent. For ages 8 to 12, Time Travellers is the classic room made for that age.

Do teenagers need to show ID at Questrooms?

No. Questrooms does not check ID for teenagers. Age counts by calendar year, and the team is responsible for following the rules: one adult aged 18+ in the team for Horror Escape, and a parent's written consent for a team of only teenagers in Horror Escape TEENS. ID is only needed for the birthday discount.
