Which escape room should I choose? At Questrooms in Stockholm the answer depends on three things: the ages in your group, how much fear you want, and how hard the puzzles should be. A customer once wrote in the chat: "We are 4 adults and 3 kids, what do you recommend?" This guide answers that kind of question for friends, families, teenagers, couples, colleagues, first-timers and experienced players, with one escape room recommendation in Stockholm for each.
How do you choose an escape room for your group?
Start with the youngest player, because each game has a recommended age. Then decide how scary it may be, and then how hard: the lock icons on each game card show difficulty from 1 to 5. Finally check the group size. Most rooms take 2 to 6 players, and bigger groups split into teams.
| Your group | Start with | Also consider | Age on the card |
|---|---|---|---|
| Friends | Horror Escape | Russian Mafia, Escape the Worlds | 18+, 12+, 12+ |
| Family, kids 8 to 12 | Time Travellers | Smash Point KIDS VR, Magic Portal | 8 to 12, 8+, 8+ |
| Family, kids 10 to 14 | Jungle Quest VR | Mission Sigma VR, Signal Lost VR, Survival VR | 10+ |
| Teenagers | Horror Escape TEENS | Cyberpunk VR, Dream Hackers VR | 13 to 17, 13+, 13+ |
| Couple | Mission Sigma VR | House of Fear 2 VR | 10+, 13+ |
| Colleagues | A team building package | VR Versus in BACK-TO-BACK | depends on the game |
| First-timers | Horror Escape or Mission Sigma VR | Time Travellers, Jungle Quest VR | 18+, 10+ |
| Experienced players | Russian Mafia | Prison Escape VR, Alice in Wonderland VR, Frozen Castle VR | 12+, 15+, 12+, 12+ |
The age on the card is a recommendation based on experience, not a hard rule. The exception is Horror Escape and Horror Escape TEENS, which are never for players under 13. When you know what you want, pick a time in the booking calendar.
Which escape room suits a group of friends?
For a group of friends, Horror Escape is the most popular game at Questrooms, and it works even if nobody has played an escape room before. It takes 3 to 6 players and is recommended for 18+. Friends who prefer no fear at all can pick Russian Mafia, the hardest classic room, or Escape the Worlds in VR.
Horror Escape has a live actor for a short interaction with no physical contact, a jump scare and partial darkness. Write "light version" in the booking comment to play without the actor. Groups of 7 to 10 friends can play the same VR game in two rooms with BACK-TO-BACK, or race each other in Versus mode, which every VR game supports.
Which escape room suits a family with children?
For children aged 8 to 12, Time Travellers is the classic room made for them: difficulty 2 of 5, 3 to 7 players and one adult in the room. In VR, Smash Point KIDS VR (8+) and Jungle Quest KIDS VR (10+) are friendly starts. Outdoors, Magic Portal works for families with kids from 7 or 8.
Because Time Travellers takes up to 7 players, a family of 4 adults and 3 kids aged 8 to 12 can play it together. Families with kids aged 10 to 14 have more choice: Jungle Quest VR, Mission Sigma VR, Signal Lost VR and Survival VR are all 10+ and not scary, and Russian Mafia is 12+.
A few rules for families:
- Children under 13 need at least one adult with them in the room.
- Children aged 4 to 7 may join their parents and older siblings, on the parents' responsibility.
- An adult who goes into the room counts as a player and pays the normal price.
- Players aged 8 to 17 get 15% off.
Which escape room suits teenagers?
For teenagers aged 13 to 17, Horror Escape TEENS tells the same story as Horror Escape, with no actor, more light and a lower sound level, and still one jump scare. Teens who want no horror can choose Cyberpunk VR or Dream Hackers VR, both 13+. Dream Hackers VR is one of the few VR games with shooting.
Teenagers without an adult in the team can play Horror Escape TEENS if a parent of one of them emails hello@questrooms.se with written approval. Players under 18 need a responsible adult on site, and that adult can wait in the reception without paying. Teens aged 13 to 17 can also play the adult Horror Escape if at least one person in the team is 18+.
Which escape room suits a couple?
For a couple, Mission Sigma VR is easy, fun and works well for a first date in an escape room. Couples who want a scare can choose House of Fear 2 VR, a horror investigation for 2 to 4 players. Both cost 409 SEK per person for two players, like every game at Questrooms.
Mission Sigma VR has difficulty 2 of 5: your team must stop a countdown on top of a trapped tower. Horror Escape is also possible for two, at 511 SEK per person, if you book for 3 players and write "2 players" in the comment.
Which escape room suits colleagues?
For colleagues, the format matters more than the game. A team of up to 6 can book a regular game, and a group of 8 to 44 can book a team building package where several teams play at the same time. For a mixed group, choose a game that is not scary, so nobody has to opt out.
The team building packages at Questrooms run by group size:
- Team Start (8 to 12 people): 2 groups compete for the best time, 1.5 hours.
- Team Boost (13 to 22 people): 3 groups play at the same time, 1.5 hours.
- Business Challenge (23 to 32 people): 4 groups in two rounds with fika in between, 2.5 hours.
- Corporate Takeover (33 to 44 people): 6 groups and the whole venue, 2.5 hours.
The regular company price is 389 SEK per person, and 349 SEK on weekdays between 12:00 and 15:00.
Which escape room suits first-timers?
For first-timers, Questrooms recommends Horror Escape, Time Travellers, Jungle Quest VR, Mission Sigma VR or Smash Point KIDS VR. Every game has hints: your team asks, and the game master helps, as often as you want. If the 60 minutes run out, nothing bad happens. You leave the room and the game master goes through the game with you.
Escape room for beginners tip: if you are new and want to try Russian Mafia, come at least 3 players, because the room has difficulty 5 of 5.
Which escape room is the hardest?
The hardest escape rooms at Questrooms have difficulty 5 of 5: Russian Mafia among the classic rooms, and Prison Escape VR, Alice in Wonderland VR and Frozen Castle VR in VR. Age and difficulty are separate: Russian Mafia is 12+ but the hardest classic room. Prison Escape VR is 15+.
Russian Mafia is set in 90s Russia and takes 2 to 6 players, no exceptions. Experienced teams who want a step below the top level can try Cyberpunk VR, Escape the Worlds or the outdoor spy game Operation Mindfall (16+), all difficulty 4.
Scary escape room or not scary at all?
A scary escape room at Questrooms means Horror Escape, House of Fear 2 VR (13+) or Sanctum VR (12+). Horror Escape TEENS is the milder version. Chernobyl VR has a dark atmosphere, and Dream Hackers VR has action. Everything else is not scary, and you can also ask the game master on site for a milder or scarier Horror Escape.
Not scary at all: Time Travellers, Russian Mafia, Jungle Quest VR, Alice in Wonderland VR, Escape the Worlds, Frozen Castle VR, Mission Sigma VR, Signal Lost VR, Survival VR and Magic Portal. All VR games are puzzle games without shooting, except Dream Hackers VR and Smash Point KIDS VR.
FAQ
What is the easiest escape room at Questrooms?
Smash Point KIDS VR has difficulty 1 of 5, but it is an arcade shooting game for ages 8 and up. Among puzzle games, Time Travellers, Jungle Quest VR, Jungle Quest KIDS VR and Mission Sigma VR have difficulty 2 of 5. Every game has hints on request, so a new team is never stuck for long.
Can adults and children play the same escape room?
Yes. Adults and children can play together in every game except Horror Escape and Horror Escape TEENS, which are never for players under 13. Time Travellers takes up to 7 players, so a family with kids aged 8 to 12 can play as one team. Children under 13 need an adult in the room.
Can we change the game after booking?
In VR, yes. When you book a VR room you pick a game, and if you are unsure you can pick any game and change it on site before you start. One booked hour covers one game, so two different VR games in the same slot is not possible at Questrooms.
What if we still cannot decide?
Take the "Find your adventure" quiz on the Questrooms website: 6 questions that take about 45 seconds and suggest a game for your group. You can also ask in the chat on the support page. Give the number of players and their ages, and the team suggests a game and quotes the exact price.
