VR for kids in Stockholm: which game for ages 8 to 12

Which VR escape games suit children aged 8 to 12 at Questrooms on Södermalm: ages, difficulty, action or puzzles, and how to book the VR room.

VR for kids in Stockholm starts at age 8 at Questrooms on Södermalm. Smash Point KIDS VR is made for that age, and five puzzle games start at 10. A parent wrote in the chat: "We have 6 kids who want to play Smash Point, they are between 8 and 9." This guide answers that kind of question: which game fits, how many players fit, and who needs to be in the room.

Which VR escape games are suitable for children aged 8 to 12?

At Questrooms, Smash Point KIDS VR suits children from 8, and Jungle Quest KIDS VR, Jungle Quest VR, Mission Sigma VR, Signal Lost VR and Survival VR suit children from 10. None of them is scary. Children under 13 play with an adult in the room, and players aged 8 to 17 get 15% off.

Game Age Difficulty Type Scary
Smash Point KIDS VR 8+ 1 of 5 Action, a shooting game No
Jungle Quest KIDS VR 10+ 2 of 5 Puzzles, exploring No
Jungle Quest VR 10+ 2 of 5 Puzzles, exploring No
Mission Sigma VR 10+ 2 of 5 Puzzles, a countdown No
Signal Lost VR 10+ 3 of 5 Puzzles, a space station No
Survival VR 10+ 3 of 5 Puzzles, an island No

The ages are recommendations. An 8 or 9-year-old can join a 10+ game together with parents, on the parents' responsibility. Pick a time in the booking calendar and write the children's ages in the comment.

Action or puzzles: how do you choose?

Choose by what your child enjoys. Smash Point KIDS VR is a cartoon arena with fast rounds where players battle, chase and outplay each other: less thinking, more laughing and competing. The other five games are puzzle adventures without shooting, where the team explores a world together and solves puzzles to move forward.

  • Smash Point KIDS VR: bright visuals and constant action. A good pick for kids who play video games and want to compete.
  • Jungle Quest KIDS VR: a colourful jungle built for cooperation and curiosity rather than pressure. A gentle first VR game.
  • Mission Sigma VR: the team stops a countdown at the top of a trapped tower. Easy and fun, made for beginners.
  • Signal Lost VR: the players are robotic engineers on a space station that is falling out of orbit.
  • Survival VR: after a crash on a deserted island, the team finds resources and fixes a transmitter.

Is VR comfortable for children?

VR at Questrooms is played sitting or standing. Players move their avatar with the controllers and teleport over short or long distances, so nobody walks around the room. All players see and hear each other in the game. In rare cases a player feels slightly dizzy, and the feeling passes when the headset comes off.

The headsets are Meta Quest 2 and Quest 3s, and they fit over most glasses. With very large frames, a child can play without glasses while the game master adjusts the lenses. The game master watches every room live on camera, and every game has a hint system, so a team that gets stuck just asks.

How many kids fit in a VR game?

One VR game takes 2 to 6 players. VR Escape Room 1 has 6 stations and VR Escape Room 2 has 4. Six children aged 8 to 9 plus the adult they need in the room make 7 players, since the adult counts as a player. That is more than one room holds, so the group books BACK-TO-BACK.

BACK-TO-BACK links both VR rooms for 7 to 10 players, and the seats split automatically, for example 7 as 4 + 3. In Versus mode two teams race in the same game, and every VR game supports it, Smash Point KIDS VR included. Book VR Room 1 and VR Room 2 at the closest times, at most 30 minutes apart, and write "Back to back" in the comment.

FAQ

How long is a VR game for kids?

A VR game for kids at Questrooms lasts 60 minutes, the same as for adults. Arrive 15 minutes before the booked time for the rules, and allow 5 to 10 minutes after the game for payment, about 1.5 hours in total. If the time runs out, nothing bad happens: the kids take off the headsets and talk it through.

Can a parent play together with the child in VR?

Yes, and Questrooms recommends it. Children under 13 need an adult in the room, and that adult counts as a player and pays the normal price, so most parents play along. In VR the parent can sit for the whole game. Parents of teenagers aged 13 to 17 can wait in the reception for free instead.

Can we play two different VR games in one booking?

No. One booked hour in a VR room is one game, because two games in the same slot would leave both of them incomplete. If the children want two games, book two slots after each other. If you are unsure which game to pick, choose any when you book and change it on site before the start.

What does a VR game for kids cost?

A VR game at Questrooms costs the same as every other game and depends on the number of players in the room: 409 SEK per person for 2 players, 389 SEK for 4 and 369 SEK for 6. Every player aged 8 to 17 gets 15% off. You see the total in the booking calendar before you confirm.

Book a VR game
