Never tried an escape room? It is an hour where you and your group solve puzzles together to get out of a room before time runs out. Here are five reasons to give it a go, and what to know before you book at Questrooms on Södermalm.
1. Everyone is involved, all the time
In an escape room, nobody can sit on the side and watch. One person finds a number, another works out which lock it fits, a third keeps an eye on the clock. The puzzles cannot be solved alone, so the group has to talk from the first minute. That makes it different from a dinner or a film, where you mostly sit and listen.
2. You do not need any prior knowledge
No special knowledge is needed, just logic and teamwork. The game master explains the rules before you start, in English or Swedish, and if you get stuck you can ask for hints. It is up to you how many you take. That means first-time players and experienced players can be on the same team.
3. You do something instead of just watching
In a film, you follow someone else's adventure. In an escape room, you are the main characters. You open the drawers, try the codes and decide what to do next. That difference is what many people take home: the story is about what you did yourselves.
4. There is a room for almost every group
Questrooms has several formats:
- Classic escape rooms: Russian Mafia for tricky puzzles, Horror Escape for horror (strictly 18+, minimum 3 players) and Time Travellers for kids aged 8–12.
- VR escape rooms: from sci-fi and fantasy to horror, with age limits from 10.
- Outdoor AR missions: Operation Mindfall and Magic Portal on the streets of Södermalm.
One room takes 2–6 players. If you are more, you can play several rooms at the same time, or BACK-TO-BACK with up to 10 players in VR.
5. You get something to talk about afterwards
When you come out, you share a story: who found the key, which clue took longest, who screamed in the dark. Groups that play different rooms at the same time usually have a lot to compare afterwards. It lasts well into dinner.
Before you book
- Time: arrive 15 minutes early for the briefing. The game takes up to 60 minutes. Count on about 1.5 hours in total.
- Price: The price depends on how many you are, and the more players, the lower the price per person. You see the current price when you pick a slot for an escape room or a VR escape room.
- Payment: card or Swish on site. No cash.
- Safety: every room is monitored by cameras, and in an emergency all locks open automatically.
