Autumn in Stockholm means shorter days, more rain and more evenings indoors. That is no reason to stay home. Plan outdoor things while it is light, and save the evenings for activities that do not care about the weather. This guide gives you autumn activity ideas in Stockholm for adults, groups of friends and couples, plus a plan for an autumn Saturday.
What is autumn like in Stockholm?
From October the days get shorter quickly, and in November it is dark by the afternoon. The weather switches between clear, cold days and long spells of rain. The city stays fully open: museums, cafés, restaurants and indoor activities run as usual.
Outdoors while it is light
- Walks in autumn colours. The parks and the water around Södermalm are at their most colourful before the leaves fall.
- A mission in the city. Operation Mindfall is an augmented reality spy game on the streets of SoFo, for 2–10 players aged 16+. It takes up to 2 hours. If it rains, you play with umbrellas, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before start.
- A city adventure for the whole family. Magic Portal is a beginner-friendly AR mission on Södermalm from age 8.
Book outdoor missions in the middle of the day, since it gets dark early.
Indoors when it gets dark
- Museums and fika. Classic autumn choices when the weather turns.
- Escape rooms. One room takes 2–6 players, and you have 60 minutes to get out. Russian Mafia suits groups who like tricky puzzles.
- VR. No VR experience is needed. Frozen Castle VR and Survival VR are exciting without being scary.
Autumn is horror season
October is the month when many people want to be a little scared. Horror Escape is our horror room, strictly 18+, for 3–6 players, with a live actor in a short interaction and no physical contact. If someone wants it milder, write "light version" in the comment when you book. In VR, there is House of Fear 2 VR (15+) and Sanctum VR (12+).

Höstlov with the kids
Schools in the City of Stockholm have höstlov, the autumn break, in week 44, 26–30 October 2026. If you have kids with you, our guide to höstlov in Stockholm has ideas for different ages.

- Lunch and fika on Södermalm.
- Afternoon: an escape room or VR game at Questrooms, Kocksgatan 21A, a few minutes from Medborgarplatsen. Count on about 1.5 hours in total.
